About Me:
|
Meet Pipsi. Pipsi is a very sweet little senior Dachshund who is looking for a special home. This little girl lost the use of her back legs a few months back but she has since regained her ability to walk although very wobbly. Pipsi does have a hard time controlling her bladder and bowels as a result so somebody with tile floor would be perfect. There are doggie diapers that Pipsi can wear in the house that are washable. Pipsi is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and we will be having her teeth cleaned in the near future. If you would like to meet little Pipsi please please complete an adoption application by clicking here and contact Brenda at 256-0862.
UPDATE 3/2/08:
Pipsi has had a consultation with a highly respected orthopedic specialist and
the news was not good. Pipsi does not have any feeling in her tail or her hind
feet and no matter how much stimulus was applied, she didn't feel it. The
specialist is sure that when the disc ruptured in her back, it crushed her
spinal cord and it is no longer functional. Pipsi has learned to walk because of
neurological impulses, her style of walking is called spinal walking. The
specialist does not feel that surgery will help at all at this point as the
damage is done and too much time has passed. Our next step is a consultation
with a veterinarian who specializes in acupuncture. We are hopeful that this or
chiropractic adjustments may help Pipsi and we intend to pursue this avenue.
Please keep Pipsi in your prayers.
UPDATE 3/24/08:
Today Pipsi had a consultation with a local veterinarian who also does
chiropractic. We had survey radiographs done and than she had her first
adjustment. We will go back in one week for our second adjustment and
than in two weeks for the third. We are very hopeful that this will help
our little angel. Please say a prayer for Pipsi.
UPDATE 4/14/08: Pipsi had her third chiropractic treatment today and we filmed it so everyone can view the process. We are working on uploading the clip for everyone to see. The procedure is actually called VOM and more info can be found at www.vomtech.com Dr.Toby Goldman at Island Pet Hospital is trained to perform these treatments and more info can be found on his website at www.islandpethospital.com Dr.Goldman is located at 7025 W. Ann Road LV NV 89130 702-645-7387. We do plan to try acupuncture on pipsi next and we will keep you updated on how that goes. Keep your fingers crossed. Update 6/8/2008: Pipsi is still here in rescue 9 months after we took her in. We have tried many different things to try and help her regain her bowel/bladder control but as of yet nothing has helped. We have tried crate rest, steroids, adequan injections, supplements and lastly chiropractic. We have decided to let Pipsi be as she is not in any pain, she is able to walk and run around fine and she is a very happy girl. Thank you to all of who donated to help us try all of these treatments on Pipsi. We will however be having another dental cleaning done on Pipsi (she has her first one done in December) as her teeth look bad again and we have found some loose teeth. Please keep Pipsi in your prayers that she gets adopted into a forever home that will accept her as she is soon.
Update 10/28/2008: Pipsi
is still here in rescue after more than a year. This sweet little girl would
love a home and family of her own, please consider her. Pipsi is doing great
otherwise, her weight is fine at 10lbs and we had her teeth cleaned this summer.
Pipsi is fantastic with other dogs as well as children but she doesn't like cats
(she likes to chase them) as well as birds. We very much appreciate donations
to help us continue to keep Pipsi in rescue. We have her on a premium dog food
plus joint supplements and fish oils and we will need to have another dental
cleaning done this winter. 6/25/09 UPDATE:
Pipsi has had her fourth dental since being in rescue and had to have ten
more teeth pulled. Poor girl only has 13 teeth left but she will feel so
much better now that all the bad teeth are
out. It was so extensive that we had to do the dental in two parts on
different days but this should be it for a while. GREAT NEWS for Pipsi
though, she has a new home!!!! Yes, a wonderful woman who lives here in Las
Vegas and already has a little Dachshund just like Pipsi is adopting her. I
am so happy for Pipsi, she really deserves to have a loving home. Thank you
Vicki so much for taking this special angel under your wing. PIPSI HAS BEEN IN RESCUE SINCE SEPTEMBER OF 2007, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO CONTRIBUTE TO HER CARE PLEASE MAKE A DONATION TO OUR PAYPAL ACCOUNT. FOSTER HOME NEEDED |
